Students working in the lab

Basic Science Division Students

Orientation Day for new students in the Basic Science Division is the Tuesday after Labor Day. Students who start in the summer will also have lunch with the Dean’s Office early in July.

The formal program typically begins at 9 am with check-in prior to the start of the program.

A full orientation schedule will be emailed to you prior to the date. However, a typical orientation program includes a welcome from our Dean, a panel discussion with current students, and a training session presented by the Office of Equal Opportunity. There is also a lunch with faculty, students, and staff from your program.

Please dress comfortably, remember your I-9 documentation if you need to have it verified, and be prepared to have your ID photo taken if you have not already done so..

Following the formal orientation program on Tuesday, a school-wide reception will be held. Classes begin the day after orientation.

In addition to the Orientation Day, in the first week there will also be a library orientation as well as safety training to prepare you enter the lab.
