What influenced your decision to pursue biomedical research?

My long developed passion for curiosity and problem solving inspired me to pursue biomedical research. Besides understanding the fundamentals of how biological system works, there are often huge potential for discoveries made in bench to open avenues for the development of therapeutics.

How is the environment at GSBS helping you achieve your professional goals?

At this point, my current goal is to obtain a very solid training in the use of biochemistry and genetics to answer unresolved biological questions in cancer and epigenetics. Collaborative and nurturing environment at GSBS has helped me to learn new things and face various challenges that occur in the process of scientific learning at the highest level.

What type of positions are you considering after graduation?

In the future, I hope to conduct research as an independent professor at an academic research institution. As a professor, I want to inspire and help expand the minds of my students and encourage them to reach their full potential, as many professors and mentors equally have done for me.

Why did you choose GSBS over other graduate schools?

I chose GSBS over other graduate school because of its strength and excellence as a research institution. My research interests coincide with few excellent GSBS faculty members. Furthermore, interdisciplinary nature and nurturing environment at GSBS was very appealing to me.

What's your favorite way to relax after classes?

I enjoy playing soccer.

What's your favorite thing about being in Boston and why?

Boston is a scientific hub that a budding scientist can blossom. There are countless fun things one can do in Boston, and the city has great sport teams.

What is your favorite Boston restaurant?

I love Toro, a Spanish restaurant in south end of Boston for food and Middle East restaurant in Cambridge for live music shows.
