My work focuses on the role osteopontin (OPN) may play in cortical development during the neonatal period using a mouse model. I am using several markers to determine effects including visual acuity and the density of cortical neurons. I am also studying the mechanisms underlying the effects of OPN on development with an emphasis on specific OPN domains and signaling pathways affected by OPN.
