Research synopsis:

Polyadenylation of mRNA transcripts is an important regulatory step that affects gene expression by several mechanisms, including altering mRNA production, export, utilization, and stability. The addition of the poly(A) tail is mediated by a large complex of proteins, but the network of interactions between them is not completely understood. For my rotation project, I am studying how mutations in the polyadenylation factor YshI and the general transcription factor Sua7 affect transcription and polyadenylation in yeast.
