Research synopsis:

Our lab studies the role of the tumor microenvironment in tumor initiation and metastasis, with a focus on the extracellular matrix. In addition to serving as a structural scaffold, the ECM provides significant biochemical and biomechanical signals to regulate cell survival, growth and migration. It has been shown that the matrix is significantly remodeled during cancer progression, at least in part due to activity of secreted enzymes that alter the linkages between matrix proteins. My work focuses on establishing a high-throughput cloning platform, with the goal of using CRISPRi to systematically target these ECM-regulatory enzymes.
