My work investigates the role of astrocytes in regulating synaptic activity of neural circuits in the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMH) involved in energy and glucose balance control. Specifically, I am interrogating mechanisms by which brain-derived neurotrophic factor signaling in VMH astrocytes influences appetite and glycemic control using advanced molecular, imaging and electrophysiological approaches.
