Research synopsis:

The conserved tegument protein UL37 from Herpesviruses is required for capsid trafficking both from the membrane to the nucleus during entry and from the nucleus back to the plasma membrane during viral egress. My project involves characterizing the biochemical properties and the structure of UL37 as well as its interactions with viral and host partners, those that are already known and the new ones, which I intend to identify.
